JAZZ ON J STREET ENSEMBLE FEATURING CLANAVEN BALDONADO

The Jazz on J Street Ensemble brings together a unique and entertaining collaborative of professional musicians featuring the smooth vocal stylings of Clanaven Baldonado complimented by a stellar band including Pianist Lenny Zinni, Trumpeter Ben Brown, Bassist Burt Boice, Flutist Blanche Williams and Drummer Timothy Moss.

Vocalist CLANAVEN BALDONADO is a Filipino-American who was born in Palm Beach County in 1994. She grew up in a home filled with joy, family and the melodies of the Great American Songbook. She studied with various vocal instructors beginning at the age of 9, and eventually drifted into The Legends 100.3 Morning Lounge Hosts Rich and Jill Switzer's orbit. With their help, she wrote and recorded her first original song at age 16. Jill Switzer was also her vocal coach for almost five years and along with her husband Rich, continues to mentor and inspire her.

Pianist LENNY ZINNI has been performing professionally for more than 40 years. While in high school, he became very interested in jazz and music from the Great American Songbook. While in college, he met Nick Massi, one of the original members of the famous musical group "The Four Seasons." The two became close friends and performed together for more than 10 years. After relocating to South Florida in 1987, and to this day, Mr. Zinni continues to perform at many upscale venues throughout South Florida.

Bassist BURT BOICE spent his nights gaining street credit by playing in local Seattle and regional jazz clubs while studying music in college by day. He has performed &/or recorded with international, national and local artists, such as multi-Grammy award winner Airto Moreira, legendary Brazilian percussionist, two-time Grammy nominee Jovino Santos-Neto, former Pianist for the legendary Hermeto Pascoal Grupo, Eduardo Mondonca, winner of the Brazilian International Press Award for outstanding Brazilian artist in the U.S., Buddy Catlett, former Bassist for such Jazz luminaries as: Louis Armstrong, Count Basie & Quincy Jones. Burt includes guitar, electric bass, piano, flute, melodica, Brazilian percussion, composing and arranging to his growing musical arsenal.

Flutist BLANCHE WILLIAMS came to play music late in life but her love for Jazz began with her father.  She would eventually interview Jazz legends like Quincy Jones, Sonny Rollins, Nancy Wilson, and George Duke on her National XM Radio Talk Show in Washington, DC.  Her life transformed at the young age of 50 while studying with Grammy nominated Music Educator Melton Mustafa Jr., eldest son of legendary Jazz trumpeter, Melton Mustafa Sr. He would help transform her life forever. Blanche currently hosts Jazz on J Street Professional JAM Sessions along with performing around South Florida with her Ensemble. She also provides music therapy for Wellington Regional Medical Center where she plays both the standard C and Native American flute.

Trumpeter BEN BROWN was born with a horn in his hand, but by the time he hit his stride the steam horns had already taken over. Still, he hopes to one day toot his metal loud enough to break straight through to the other end of the mountain and lay down the jamminest tracks on the transcontinental line. The machines may win the race but Ben’s gonna party all the way through.

Drummer TIMOTHY MOSS started drumming at a very early age in Connecticut. By the time he was in grade school he was being asked to join bands with members older than himself. Then in 8th grade a buddy introduced him to Billy Cobham and Buddy Rich. This would forever change his life. He soon realized his path in life. Great bands had great drummers. So then he started to study drumming, taking lessons and schooling wherever he could. Listening to recordings became sort of a religion to him. Then in high school he went to drum clinic featuring Dave Weckl. After the show he met with Dave and this again changed his life. Dave showed him how to be musical on the drums. Now many years later and countless local and touring bands, Tim has played drums all over Europe as part of a U.SO. Rock band and has played countless venues as a drummer for local bands here in the states. As a well sought after drummer, he plays with several Jazz and rock bands while he continues to push forward the boundaries of his musical spectrum. Always learning always growing, Tim is influenced by many great drummers on the music scene and by the great jazz players who are here and the ones who have left a great legacy behind.
